I Touch My Boobs.....WTF!!

Call me an old man, call me old school, right now I don't really care!

So, my daughter is back from college wearing the same bracelet as on the left. Sure is the thing a father wants his daughter wearing at the campus bars, hell - anywhere!!

Seems the YSC "Young Survival Coalition, I believe affiliated with "Pink Ribbon International" has come up with a new catch phrase "I Touch My Boobs!"

Great Idea!! T-shirts with the the slogan "feel your boobies". Yes that will surely inspire the female youth of today to go about and feel their boobies. A woman I work with told me her daughters have these kind of t-shirts.

However my understanding is that the teen guys (being the sympathetic people there are) are sporting t-shirts with the sayings "I'll touch/feel your boobies"

You know, you try for years to teach your kids the right things, than poof, one little fad and all those years of learning are right out the window. Yes all the kids are getting them, not because of breast cancer..it"s a fricking fad!!

I'm sure the intention was right, however did anybody stop to think of the repercussions on this one?

Thank you very much! My daughter may be able to detect breast cancer sooner, now please tell her why guys are staring, STD's, AIDs, and unwanted pregnancy!!

Who ever came up with this should be drawn and quartered!!

Maybe I'll go around with a t-shirt saying "I stick my thumb up my @ss" to promote rectal cancer awareness! Dare I go on!

Bear,

You bring up realistic scenarios regarding any reference to the wearing of those slogans. We both know they can certainly be "ice breakers" for guys to jump in there and let their true intentions be known. They'll ignore the true intention of the bracelets or other displays and work on the "boobie" issue. But something similar will happen either way, with or without the advertisements. There is no place whatsoever in Elementary, Middle and High schools age kids to be allowed to do these things. They have no idea of restraint on their new found sexuality. However, once they are college age, they are young adults who are going to do what they are going to do. Most don't go to college, they get jobs and even get married at that age. So some of what Pam says does hold true. Know that you have raised them and taught them and given them enough structure to trust them enough to know they'll do the right thing.v You're right, the wildest gals were from the strictest of families. When I was a hound dog, we always wanted to date girls from the all girl Catholic schools. Everyone wanted to experiment and find out what all the taboo was about.

There's another angle to look at. As young adults, there's not just the bad boy involved. The young intelligent, thinking, individual adult woman is also involved. From the sound of it, your daughter is displaying the slogan in the manner for which it is meant. But you know as well as I do, there are those who will wear it as an invitation. I know you are worried some guys are going to look at it as an invitation. You can bet she'll set them straight. But I know that is no consolation to you thinking there is some hound trying to slobber all over your little girl. You're judging the guys by what you (and I) would do at that age. We still have to look at it from the young woman's side and determine what her best judgments are too. It's a tough situation for you, I'm sure.

On a lighter side, you said you would curse the day you go blind. As soon as you decide to agree to my request so I can send you an email, I may be able to relieve some of that anguish for you!!!!
