Awakening the World with Truth and Creating a Better Future.

I wrote in the past about the dangers of the 'smart meters' and in doing more research about it, I learned more about the 'smart grid' aka Enernet.  My main concern were about the 'health issues' surrounding the smart meters.  I felt the privacy issues and possible higher costs were not as important.  I also felt that the least concern was the privacy issues.  So what if they know what I'm using?

Well, to my surprise once again, the ultimate design of the smart grid which is dependent upon the installation of smart meters will act similar to the way the Internet works.  The difference is that information is NOT 2 ways.  In other words, it is not information exchange amongst us, it is 1 way or 'data mining' on us that can then be distributed amongst government agencies and corporations of behavioral usage of water, gas and electric power.  It is also a way of them controlling and restricting such usages too.  In all the sites that are PRO smart meters, the only thing that I can find as being beneficial to the consumer is the ability to monitor and adjust "future" usages to lower ones billing usage.  Everything else benefits the Power Companies, Government and Corporations that would like to know what people are using, how much and when.  However, we are being taxed upon to pay for all of this.  Implementation of smart meters and the smart grid is being funded by us and if you look at your bills, it is being camouflage under some obscure tax or fees.

I happen to look at a old power bill and the only charge was $5.00.  The monthly cost for being hooked up.  I looked at a recent bill and it totaled over $15.00 with additional taxes and fees plus the hook up cost.  Now add your usage and that varies depending on when you use it.  This is where they say you can reduce your costs by avoiding peak hours usage.  Bear in mind also that the smart meter versus the analog meter, the smart meter records every bit of energy you use whereas the analog doesn't record 'spikes' like when you first turn on your air conditioner so that's a freebie you get.  The smart meter records and charges you every Milli-watt you use period.

When you add it all up, the so called benefits we get really isn't a benefit when you consider the added costs in taxes and fees and recorded electrical usage that you never paid for before.

But these are not the real dangers of the smart grid.  The real danger I found out was when I watched the video that I will link you to called Technocracy.  He explains how the smart meter/smart grid plays heavily into the implementation of this form of government in which looks like to me we are headed for that direction.  Again, I'm not a 'conspiracy theorist' but a 'truth seeker' and I look only at facts and proven truths.  From that, I make my conclusions.  I don't look at 'could be' or 'maybe' or 'what if' as factual information.

Here is the link that talks about the Enernet.  I find the concept most appealing for its intended uses but it also has a downside if used for other means.  There seems to be a tendency of things that were meant to be good for mankind ends up being bad for mankind when used by those who is motivated by greed, control and lust for power.

Make your own conclusions and decide for yourself if smart meters/smart grid is good for you.

Hiram, I found your research on smart meters very interesting. On one hand, a certain percentage are fearful of radiation poisoning while some are only fearful of the cost of installation. An "enernet" sounds attractive, but  coming from a venture capitalist you have to wonder if he has the best interest of anyone other than himself in mind. What I have found that expands a bit on just smart meters and a smart grid is bringing in low cost, high speed internet over the power lines. Gridline Communications ( www.gridlinecommunications.com) claims they can deliver 100 megabits of broadband speed to anyone that has electricity. Most people that live in a rural environment outside of the USA, like the UK for example, are forced to deal with anywhere from 2 to 20 megabits even on a good day.  The possibility of delivering broadband at a gigabit is apparently becoming a reality in the near future with companies like Lightwave Systems, Inc. This will all be possible with the installation of a smart meter. This basically means that anyone who has electricity, anywhere in the world, can have the opportunity of a first class education. Telemedicine can diagnosis rare diseases when time is of the essence. Communication with the rest of the world will be a first time experience for some and all made possible with the application of a smart meter and a smart grid. Technology will advance and solutions to the problems will be addressed and solved as we move into a new age of  technology and communications.

George, I find your justifications with good merit, however, until they can 1. safely do this in a manner that will not cause harm to humans and other forms of living creatures, are these benefits really worth it?  2.  The other issue of both privacy and centralized control issues is another that requires 'trust' in those who control the grid itself.  By the ways and means they are currently going about it, there is little trust that they will 'do the right thing'.  Therefore, the pros do not outweigh the cons of this system.  There are many ways to create abundant,  cheap and safe electrical energy that has been blocked from being produced because of 'patent infringements' and alike.  The bottom line is about greed and maintaining control of those in power.  The benefit of a few does not outweigh the needs of the many.  Your reasoning is the same as nuclear energy, look at whats happening in fukushima.  Was it really worth it?  Look at the cover ups that is going on now of the increasing spread of radiation poisoning throughout the world.   Read what Dr. Deagle who is a radiation expert says about smart meters.  He's not the only one that is saying this as well.  Further more, the cost to implement this program would be better spent to stimulate the economy and invest into safer, cleaner energy that would lower power costs to consumers.  Instead those monies are going where and to whom?  Who is really benefiting and profiting from smart meters and the smart grid?  Where and how does the average "joe" benefit from this?  Your points has merits but only to benefit the few at the cost of the many.  That doesn't sound like a good deal to me.
