the word understanding???

the word understand is just like the word brainwash. Your not under the fact that you know it so why is understand, wouldnt it be overstand, im over the fact that i know that now know that so lets move on??? doesnt that sound better, and make more sense, i know its not that big of a deal but maybe those types of word limit us on what we really do understand, or overstand, if you overstand this let me know!!!
