Alternative energy infrastructure.

I've been reading and watching video's on alternative energy for sometime, and one thing I've yet to come across is using existing infrastructure we find riddling the landscape even in the most remote places.

 Hydro poles telephone poles all designed to carry the heavy weight of electrical cable dot every road across nations, of North American and most of the world. Through fields and forests, up mountains and down in valleys the ever erect hydro pole stands tall and firmly planted..

 I was thinking why not use the existing poles for both solar collectors and wind generators.

If a solar collector could be manufactured to wrap around the pole so regardless where the sun is, it would be collecting the energy and directly tapped into the existing electrical cables.

 The same would apply to wind turbines on top of the poles with a conical, or tubular shaped turbine to eliminate noise and regardless what direct the wind was coming from they would get the benefit of it with out having to direct themselves like a weather vane.

 Hydro poles already have the electrical cables/wire that carry the electrical power through the grid,, so with a minimal effort the electricity generated by both sources of alternative energy generators could easily be tapped into the existing cables.

 Imagine every pole having a means to generate power feeding the grid, multiply that by the amount of poles across North America and I think we'd be making a substantial dent in the power production by mainstream sources by adding these basic electric generators to the existing grid.

 Combined, wind and solar, at times both would be working at other times one, a few watts each multiplied by billions of poles is multiple billions of watts constantly.

 Rain and cloud in one area,, Sun and wind in another, there would always be power going into the grid at low cost, and next to no cost once its established.

 I'm curious if this strikes people as a reasonable avenue to pursue in order to decrease our dependency of fossil fuel coal,, nuclear power plants,, and hydro electric damn power generators,, saving huge amounts of money generating and distributing electricity. Its a low cost alternative to supplement the grid throughout the known world..
