People all over the world are eating themselves to death. It started in America but has spread to include many countries. We are eating foods that are not only filled with sugar, salt and fat but lack any real nutritional value. This isn't rocket science here folks. All you have to do is stop eating pre-packaged, processed foods. Eat organic fruits and vegetables. Eat raw dairy products. Eat organic meats. Stop eating 'fast food'.  If you don't have time to cook every day do like my grandmother did, make your own frozen dinners. There are a number of things you can do this with. Make up a large pot of spaghetti sauce that you can put on pasta one night and make a pizza with on another. Make a large meatloaf that can be served as is one night and made into sandwitches on another occasion. Cook a large ham that you can eat off of for days. Ham steaks for breakfast, ham sandwiches for lunch, ham and au gratin  potatoes for dinner. If you don't own one buy a slow cooker. There are all kinds of meals you can pop in a slow cooker before going to work and come home to find ready to eat.

Besides buying fresh, organic ingredients it's important to read labels carefully. Know what you're putting in your body. The food packaging companies are getting tricky. They put catch phrases on their packages that make you think you are buying healthy foods but it's not always true. My room mate brought home a package of 'organic' granola bars the other day. Cane sugar was listed in the ingredients four (4) times. I don't care how organic it is, it's still sugar. When looking at the nutritional breakdown don't just look at the number of grams, look at the percentages. If you are about to eat something that has 35% of the fat you should eat in a day that is probably too much for one item. Unless you're planning on eating lettuce and celery for most of the rest of the day.

I read somewhere that American children of today will be the first generation to live shorter lives than their parents. This is due to poor eating habits and lack of exercise. Other countries aren't far behind. It's not too late to change that statistic but we each have to make a change now; today. Yes, it take more time and it's more expensive to eat healthy but ask yourself, what is your health worth?
