Why are the Tar Sands the world's dirtiest energy source?

What comes out of the Tar sands is not crude oil... Because DilBit, even after being diluted 50/50 with natural gas condensates, is still 40 times thicker than crude it has to be heated temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit forced through the pipelines at 1,440 pounds per square inch (psi) pressure. With Diluted Bitumen’s Acidity at 13 times the acidity rate of Conventional Crude, the DilBit pipel...ines corrode from the inside 13 times faster than conventional pipelines. All of the above combine with the fact that DilBit has 125 times the abrasives still embedded in it makes pipeline ruptures not a remote possibility but a very real probability. DilBit is full of sulfur which is expelled into the air when a spill causes an explosion if the DIL-Bit comes in contact with an open flame or if the rupture causes sparks. These older pipelines carrying Dil-Bit are invitations to disasters and the newer ones are already failing repeatedly... Steve

Diluted Bitumen’s Acidity (Total Acid Number) 0.856-4.3222 is more than 13 times what Conventional Crude is at 0-0.321. Refining equipment needs to be upgraded to prevent corrosion when processing anything with a TAN > 0.523

Diluted Bitumen’s Viscosity 201 cST is more than 40 times what Conventional Crude is at 5 Centistrokes (cST) while gasoline at the pump has a viscosity of 0.4–0.8 cST.24.

Diluted Bitumen’s Sulfur Content 3.37% is more than 6 to 10 times what Conventional Crude is at 0.34% - 0.57%. Gasoline has a sulfur content < 0.0000008.%

Diluted Bitumen’s Pipeline Temperature 158° F is more than 6 to 10 times what Conventional Crude is at less than 100° F. Conventional crude pipelines tend
to run at ambient temperatures while the need for DilBit pipeline's higher temperatures due to a viscosity of 40 times conventional crude means a faster corrosion process.

Diluted Bitumen’s Pipeline Pressure 1440 psi is more than 2.4 times greater than what Conventional Crude is at 600 psi. Pipeline Industry standards define anything with > 600 psi to be a high pressure pipeline.

Diluted Bitumen’s Abrasives (quartz and silicates) 125 pounds of quartz sand and aluminosilicates per minute if KXL is running at full capacity is more than 125 times what Conventional Crude is with no abrasives while common sandblasters only use between 1.5 and 47 pounds of sand per minute.

It is the Ministry of NSearch that all inherit the Kingdom of God

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law....

Now the works of the flesh are evident,

which are adultery fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies,

outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy,

murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like;

of which I (Paul the Apostle) tell you beforehand,

just as I also told you in time past, that those who

practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,

kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control,

against such there is no law. Those who are Christ's

have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another,

envying one another.

Galatians 5:18-26

{Sorcery: "Pharmakia;" Primarily mentioned as one of the "works of the flesh." In "sorcery" the use of drugs. Blue Letter Bible. Galatians 5:20}
