Genesis 1 – 2:3 Creation Part 1

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning [the first, in place, time, order or rank (specifically a firstfruit)] God [gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; angels] created [choose, create (creator), cut down, dispatch, do, make (fat)] the heaven [to be lofty; the sky (as aloft; the dual perhaps alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve)] and the earth [to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land); earth, field, ground, land, X nations, way, + wilderness, world].

(2) And the earth was [to exist, that is, be or become, come to pass] without form [to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), that is, desert; figuratively a worthless thing; adverbially in vain: - confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness.] and void, [(meaning to be empty); a vacuity, that is, (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin: - emptiness, void.] and darkness [the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness: - dark (-ness), night, obscurity.] was upon the face of the deep [an abyss (as a surging mass of water), especially the deep (the main sea or the subterranean water supply): - deep (place), depth]. And the Spirit [ruach, wind; by resemblance breath, that is, a sensible (or even violent) exhalation; figuratively life, anger, unsubstantiality; by extension a region of the sky; by resemblance spirit, but only of a rational being] of God [gods in the ordinary sense, magistrates, angels] moved [to brood; by implication to be relaxed: - flutter, move, shake] upon [above, over, upon, or against] the face of the waters [water; figuratively juice; by euphemism urine, semen: -  + piss, wasting, water].

(3) And God [magistrates, angels] said, [to say (used with great latitude), bid, boast self, declare, demand] Let there be [to exist, that is, be or become, come to pass (always emphatic] light [illumination or (concretely) luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.): - bright, clear, + day, light (-ning), morning, sun] and there was light.

That’s as far as I will go for now. I’ll pick it up later on. What we have so far are Eloheem angels (fallen angels) still in rebellion, creating apart from the Lord God Jehovah. Jehovah had to suspend His creation activity in Genesis 2:4+ and He allowed (and probably watched closely the activity of the fallen angels) in their creative process. Lord God Jehovah had already made the heavens and earth in Genesis 2:4. So before Jehovah could complete His creation, the fallen angels barged in on Jehovah to create on their own. Satan, of course had to prove he is as powerful Jehovah. Since only Jehovah can create through Himself, it appears, He had to give them permission to create within His boundaries. Notice how evil and dark was the creation of the fallen angels; full of chaos. Things will become more clear when I get to the creation of man in Genesis 1:26+.

Here is what is written about this portion of scripture from the Targum Jonathan:

I. At the beginning (min avella) the Lord created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was vacancy and desolation, solitary of the sons of men, and void of every animal; and darkness was upon the face of the abyss, and the Spirit of mercies from before the Lord breathed upon the face of the waters.

[JERUSALEM TARGUM. In wisdom (be-hukema) the Lord created. And the earth was vacancy and desolation, and solitary of the sons of men, and void of every animal; and the Spirit of mercies from before the Lord breathed upon the face of the waters.]

And the Lord said, Let there be light and to enlighten above; and at once there was light. And the Lord beheld the light, that it was good;

It is the Ministry of NSearch that all inherit the Kingdom of God

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law....

Now the works of the flesh are evident,

which are adultery fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies,

outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy,

murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like;

of which I (Paul the Apostle) tell you beforehand,

just as I also told you in time past, that those who

practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,

kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control,

against such there is no law. Those who are Christ's

have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another,

envying one another.
