Event Description

Fashion that’s Lite on your pocket or purse

Lyme Lite is a fashion show spotlighting Lyme Disease during May, National Lyme Disease Awareness Month. This is an awareness and fundraiser event to support MontCo Lyme’s education efforts (Montgomery County Lyme Information and Support Group). Women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing will be shown, quite a nice family affair for Mother’s Day weekend.

The stores participating in the fashion show are Banana Republic, Old Navy, Salvation Army, the tennis shop in Collegeville, and Cold Water Creek. Some sell “high fashion clothes” without a high fashion price tag, while one is actually a resale store to showcase what fashion is possible when your budget is tight, as it is for many in this economy. Professional models, provided by John Robert Powers agency in Philadelphia, and Youth affected by Lyme Disease will show the clothes. Snacks and hors d’oeuvres are being donated by local restaurants.

May is the time for generating Lyme Awareness and this year even more so. The CDC recently released 2009 statistics and Pennsylvania leads the nation in Lyme disease, with over 8000 cases reported last year, making up 27% of the national total. That figure is up 113% over Pennsylvania’s 2008 statistics. Lyme disease is an epidemic problem in our area yet many are unfamiliar with its early and varied presentations – exactly why education and awareness is needed. The CDC’s 15-year surveillance study released last year revealed a continued increased and broad geographic expansion across the U.S. and highlighted the disproportionate increase found among children.

This event was initiated by 16-year-old Meghan Harrison, a former model with the John Robert Powers Agency, who has advanced Lyme Disease.

Admission Fee: $10, food inclusive

It is the Ministry of NSearch that all inherit the Kingdom of God

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law....

Now the works of the flesh are evident,

which are adultery fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,

idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies,

outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy,

murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like;

of which I (Paul the Apostle) tell you beforehand,

just as I also told you in time past, that those who

practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,

kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control,

against such there is no law. Those who are Christ's

have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another,

envying one another.

Galatians 5:18-26

{Sorcery: "Pharmakia;" Primarily mentioned as one of the "works of the flesh." In "sorcery" the use of drugs. Blue Letter Bible. Galatians 5:20}
